What are you still carrying?

We are moving through a threshold, a time of new beginnings, from the Equinox through Easter into the upcoming New Moon. It is time to lay down the old and step into the new.

As you stand here, take a pause, and ask yourself, what am I still carrying that is not longer true, needed, or relevant?

Here’s the thing…

You are not your past.

You are not even the one that experienced it.

You are the one who walked through it and has grown from it, and now stands here, today.

But, the mind and memory are tricky. They hold a grip on the past, to protect you in the future.

It’s not wrong, it’s supposed to help.

You see, that moment when something happened created an imprint in your mind and body that now activates anytime a “similar” situation arises.

But… it doesn’t often access the growth that you found from it.

We so easily forget that we actually moved through it, walked forward, not always because we were ready, but because we had to. Life always moves forward.

So we stay caught in the past. We keep telling the same story or get caught in that same emotional reaction.

The mind will keep us trapped in the past fears if we aren’t actively looking at the present and future.

This is when you ask yourself… “What am I still carrying that I believe is not healed?”

Then check in and ask… “What would I need to happen to feel healing from this?”

Then check in further and ask… “How have I already experienced that?”

You might be surprised at what you have actually overcome, how you have actually grown. Look for examples. Validate yourself!

You don’t have to stay caught in the story or the emotion.

Every day is a new day to meet yourself with new truth, new trust, and new action.

You can consciously choose to focus on and experience life in a new way.

It’s time to lay down the old story and free yourself of that past.

You are here, you are now, you are stronger and more capable than your past self could ever imagine. You made it through those struggles!

If you need a ritual or something to help you surrender that old story or emotional reaction you can try this.

Write a letter to your past self, letting them know how you understand what they’ve gone through, offer compassion or forgiveness as necessary. Then show them how you’ve grown from their struggle. Let them see how their experience has been a catalyst for your growth. (If you have trouble seeing this, try to find one or two things that are different now… what have you chosen that feels better now?)

Then read it back to yourself a few times, out loud. Feel the words as they land on your younger self. If it’s hard to receive, read it daily for a few days, as needed… really invite the words in.

Then take the letter and bury it, burn it, or tear it up and let the wind or water take it away. Give it to the earth or the elements.

The next time you find yourself ready to repeat the story… stop. Why are you telling it? Is it needed or relevant, or is it a habit? Witness any emotional charge and make space with your breath, and remind yourself of the new.

What is the new story of your growth that will now guide you forward?

If you need, write it down or a few keys words that you can return to, to support your new evolution.

This is a powerful time to let go of the old so you can rise into the new.

It’s not always comfortable, but it’s doable. You are an already an example of it.

I feel this is the invitation that lives in this time of year.

To allow the past to be the fertile ground from which you now grow even more.

Who are you ready to become? How do you want to live?

I’m excited to see!

Let’s awaken to who we truly are today and discover a future beyond our past selves dreams!

If you could use some extra support surrendering the old stories and emotional reactions, reach out anytime. It would be my honour to walk beside you.

with love always ❤️
